Then un-quits comedy, still can’t find mind. So if you know anything about Katt Williams, you know that he’s a man who loves his weed. Unfortunately, I think somebody might have put a little something awful into his stash, because he’s been having a rough couple of weeks.
Williams has been in the middle of a U.S. tour, but the West Coast leg has certainly not been going well. Nearly every stop has been plagued with some serious insanity. Things started to go bad in Oakland, where Williams was arrested for smacking someone with a bottle and went on to one of the weirdest performances of his life, stopping his set just minutes in to deliver a rambling monologue that climaxed with Williams taking his clothes off and attempting to fight three audience members.
Things just got worse from there – at a Woodland, California Target store, Williams pimp-slapped a young employee for apparently no reason. Later, in Sacramento, he led the police on an inane chase on a three-wheeled motorcycle, driving on the wrong side of the road and even on the sidewalk.
It’s fair to say that Katt Williams has some kind of disorder – what else could make a Black dude feel comfortable rocking a Prince Valiant haircut? – but things are very out of control. The culmination of Williams’ rampage came in Seattle, where he got into a fight at a bar called the World Sports Grille, tried to hit the bar’s manager with a pool cue and threw a lit cigarette into a woman’s face. A local news crew caught up with him on the street and he told them that he was retiring. He also later commented that he wanted to buy a ferry boat and live on it because four Seattle hotels threw him out, and he was suing the city for $50 million.
His management team, obviously, is working to try to get Williams out of this mess without having to pay cancellation fees for the rest of his tour, so they released a statement assuring fans that he would make the rest of the scheduled stops next week in Texas, New Orleans and Alabama. Their explanation for his announcing his retirement? “The reason why he made remarks was due to him feeling totally disrespected by all the things that happen to him in the city of Seattle.” Yes, that was so disrespectful of that woman to call the cops when Williams tried to put a cigarette out on her eye. The nerve of her.
So what do you think? Is Katt Williams’ reign of terror over, or is there more carnage on the horizon?
