The end of the world isn’t coming due to natural disaster but rather from simultaneous heart attacks across the planet. That’s right, someone has created bacon pixie stix!
We may be bleeding the love for bacon dry, but might as well strike while the frying pan’s hot. Eventually the novelty is going to wear off and we don’t want to have missed a single opportunity to have used sizzlin’ strips. This recipe comes to us from Instructables, everyone’s favorite do-it-yourself think tank, by way of Food Beast. It’s a little more complicated than you were hoping for when you clicked the link, but it will all be worth it in the end. From the sounds of it, the toughest part will be tracking down the ingredients.
- 150g well-fried thin-sliced bacon (just cook the whole pound and make BLTs with the extra)
- 310g dextrose powder (about 2 cups)
- 40g cornstarch (about 5 teaspoons)
- 25g tapioca maltodextrin
- 7.5g citric acid
If you can track down those items on the set of Breaking Bad, you can make an endless supply of delicious bacon pixie stix. Inevitably one of you will do the right thing and snort one, and I want you to email me (colin@guyism.com) about how that goes.
