Back in the day Melanie Brown, aka Mel B, aka Scary Spice was one of our favorite female pop stars as a part of the British girl group the Spice Girls. Let’s take a look back at those glory years and see what she’s up to now.
From 1994 to 1999 Melanie Brown and her four friends, Melanie Chisholm (Sporty Spice), Geri Halliwell (Ginger Spice), Emma Bunton (Baby Spice), and Victoria Adams (Posh Spice) dominated the music scene after beating out about 400 other singers to become the Spice Girls and earning them up to $75 million a year. They even had their own movie! Following the group’s breakup Mel B embarked on a solo career of middling success, but in 2011 she joined the Australian version of The X Factor as a judge, and in 2012 competed on the Australian version of Dancing with the Stars. Earlier this year it was announced that Brown would be replacing Sharon Osbourne as a judge on America’s Got Talent and was supposed to also be a judge on Australia’s Got Talent until the network that airs The X Factor in Australia halted that move with a lawsuit saying she was still under contract to them. And that’s where she stands today, almost 20 years after making it big with the Spice Girls.
