Aside from the occasional stutter, you rarely see characters with speech impediments in movies. Jimmy Fallon demonstrates that there’s a good reason for that. Classic movies with a lisp sound ridiculous. Arnold isn’t cool or intimidating when he slurs his way through “hasta la vista,” and I really wish Roy Scheider gotten eating after failing to say smile. I can forgive a slightly extended “es” from time to time, but a real-deal impediment would be a deal breaker. Hopefully the vocally handicapped union doesn’t sue Hollywood.
