There has been little advancement in McDonald’s packaging technology since the undersized bottom to the oversized cup. Leave it to Japan to break the stagnation with a french fry box meant to fit perfectly in a cup holder. Anyone who orders a combo meal with a large fries gets this plastic fry holder.
While the cup redesign was essential to feed out beverage habit, this is completely unnecessary. Eating fries out of the bag is the best part of the fast food to-go experience. If anything, putting them in the cup holder is worse. When was the last time you were able to put the exact right number of fries out of the container? Never! That’s why you need the bag there to catch the strays. This will result in significant loss of the America’s 2nd best french fries in my mouth.
