With tonight’s New Years Eve celebrations and tomorrow’s New Years Day bowl parties, we at Guyism want to remind you not to drink and drive. We aren’t riding our high horse, we just know it will cost you a ton of money in the long run. Plus, there’s limited internet access in jail, so we can’t have you spending any time there.
In an average year, 900,000 people are arrested for drunk driving. It’s not some fictional crime that’s only for celebrities, athletes, and alcoholics. Someone who’s straddling the fence of .08 BAC is 11 times more likely to get in an accident than someone who’s sober, but you don’t need to crash to get busted. Don’t think you’re safe just because you’re only drinking beer either; it’s the most common culprit for both DUI arrests and fatal crashes.
Very few people who haven’t been arrested for it already know how the process works. LawQA DUI Resources put together an interesting scrolling parallax that takes you from when the lights first flash to your time in court. Educate yourself by clicking the graphic below. The whole thing is set up as a car chase, something in which we all secretly want to be involved.
